All written material will be available in both English and Danish, but since we are in the middle of translating it into Danish, for now, all written is in English.
Til den danske afvikling vil alt materiale være oversat til dansk. Men for nu er både hjemmeside og tilmelding på engelsk. Hvis dette er en udfordring, så skriv til os, så finder vi ud af det.

Offgame-Crew
Ingame-staff
Colour-coded uniforms to make sure players playing staff does not have to do tedious offgame-tasks (unless they want to!)

This larp is supported by
Elysion - en rollespilsforening i Aarhus
The story is set in the late-1920s Denmark, at a seaside resort, where people from all classes gather.
In these turbulent times, luckily time seems to have slowed down at Petersen's Seaside Hotel, and people come from near and far to get a break. They use this summer mainly to get their affairs in order, but they also dare to dream, to hope and some of them dare to gamble with fate.
They try to get some peace of mind, but tensions will rise, lovers and ghosts of the past will haunt them, friendships be tested, family-secrets be revealed, and for the couples perhaps love might find a way, or perhaps it shall wither forever.
"Sunkissed Affairs" will be an immersive LARP revolving around the stories of ordinary lives, their ambitions and dreams, their disappointments and downfall.
The Danish summer will leave people sun-kissed, and it will bring successes or failures, love or hate, unity or loneliness.
This is Sunkissed Affairs, and we wish you were here!

LOCATION & ACCESSABILITY

.jpg?etag=null&sourceContentType=image%2Fjpeg&ignoreAspectRatio&resize=327%2B218&extract=0%2B0%2B327%2B218&quality=85)

Address:
Badehotel Klitgaarden, Porsevej 19, 6854 Henne
Age restriction:
You must be 18 at the start of the LARP.
Accessability:
We do not want to judge if this LARP can accomodate your needs or not, so we will give as much information as we can, and let you decide. If you need more information than we have already given, send us an email.
SOUND
The location has good room-acoustics and the ceiling has soundpanels to reduce the volume in crowded areas.
The walls are relatively thin, so you will be able to hear a very loud snorer through the walls.
You will be able to hear people walk around on the second floor.
INNER CLIMATE
It is an established hotel, therefore bedlinen are cleaned allergy-friendly.
Linen will be provided for all players.
The location will not be professionally cleaned during the LARP, but a thorough ventilation and new linens will be provided between the English and the Danish run.
Also, the rooms and location will be vented and the air circulated during the larp.
PHYSICAL LOCATIONS
At the hotel:
Stairs, no elavators, and tiny hallways.
Leveled porches outside the hotel.
On the second floor the main-room for socializing is located.
On the first floor is the dining room and a small room for socializing.
There are bedrooms on both floors.
Planned trip to the beach:
Uneven ground, slippery and sandy dunes.
The temperature outside in Denmark, September is usually 13 degrees celcius
We recommend you to bring a coat.
For RUN 1 we got insanely lucky with the weather and 30 degrees celcius; we are hoping for the same luck, but better be prepared for colder temperatures.
The Social Agreement - INGAME

This is NOT reenactment, but inspired and loosely based upon the world of late-1920s.
This means when signing up, you need to accept that some views and ideas -- INGAME -- will crucially differ from modern days, and will be offensive.
E.g. Queer sexualities, polygami and atheism will be frowned upon, and subject to harassment (the level of harassment can be calibrated to fit your liking.)
1. Genders
The larp will portray a narrative where there are only two genders; man and woman.
The men will be the expected ruler of a family.
In the sign-up you can choose whether you want to play a man or a woman, and your offgame-gender does not dictate what you have to choose.
2. Homosexuality & Queer narratives
The larp will portray a timeline where homosexuality is frowned upon, yet at Peterson's Seaside Hotel everything is a bit loose, and people are slow-noticing.
In this narrative only the homosexuality of men is suspected; women are not subject to the level of suspicion as men are (without clear proof that the women kissed!).
If men or women are acting overly-friendly towards their close friend, it might at first be dismissed as sunkissed behavior. It will gradually raise a couple of eyebrows if the behavior continues, and only explicit homosexual behavior (cuddling or kissing between same sex) will immediately lead to the suspicion being proved.
Fail-safe:
If the queer side of a character is revealed it is everyone's responsibility to include that character, even if exclusion would make sense. We are here to roleplay with eachother, not force someone to be lonely.
Between ACT 1 and ACT 2 there will be room for global calibration.
There will be scenes of discrimination, but the level of harassment can be calibrated.
In the sign-up you can opt-in or out of playing a queer narrative.
Queer stories will be present at the larp regardless of your choice of playing one.
3. Racism
The larp will portray a world where a person is not defined by the colour of their skin. Racism will NOT be a part of this larp, in- or offgame.

If you have questions, write us an email.

These amazing teams will handle the practicalities and making sure that the larp runs smoothly behind the scenes.
We are thrilled to have such amazing help; thank you.
You will experience that they have ingame-characters, to not break the illusion when they move around location.
This will be explained further during the briefing.
What we encourage and what we want you to experience during Sunkissed Affairs
OUTDOOR SCENES
There will be trips to the dunes and sea. It will likely be very windy, and there will be loose footing and a lot of sand.
We are hoping for a hot summer.
If you want this experience, you have to be able to walk in rough terrain.
DINNER SCENES
Every family or party eats by their own table, but the food will be served for everyone at once - except breakfast.
We encourage people to use indoor-voices.
This is where the acoustics will prove difficult, and you can expect these scenes to be the most loud.
PAST TIME ACTIVITIES
To further the feeling of a summer holiday, it is encouraged to create games and fun to participate in. Perhaps:
- Petanque -
- Game of croquet -
- Bridge -
- Poker -
- Painting -
- Hide-and-seek -
- Tag in the Dunes -
GUEST AT THE HOTEL
Could be you are visiting for the first time this year, or you are a returning guest. Either way you have heard wonders about this hotel, and it will be much needed to enjoy a holiday at the seaside.
This game-experience can involve personal ambitions, hierarchy and social status, making the best of a bad trade, or simply enjoying yourself.
Yet for every guest at the hotel the story will revolve around getting your affairs in order.
STAFF or LOCAL
This category will give you an experience of belonging to Petersen's Seaside Hotel.
Your character is a crucial part of daily matters, and/or the hotel's ambitions.
This is for the player who wants to experience personal ambitions, close relations, fighting for the prestige of the Hotel, spreading gossip, secrecy and trying to get the help of the guests, or maybe help them?

The badly-hidden glossary
ACT (1 or 2)
This term is borrowed from theatrical works. It defines a period of runtime of the larp that is constructed to build a certain kind of feeling or tension.
In this larp "ACT 1" is the beginning of the summer and arrival at the hotel. People are giddy and meeting new and old acquintances or friends.
"ACT 2" is the end of the summer and six weeks have passed ingame.
People are getting ready to go home to their normal lives, with the consequences in mind that the summer had for them.
Ingame
This is when we are playing our characters.
Play Up:
To help along certain parts of someone's ingame-character.
E.g.
"I'm the usher of the local church. Please play me up as someone that has your confidence if your character believes in God."
"I'm a renowned and famous actor/actress. Please play me up as someone you've seen in a play, or someone you've read about in the newspaper."
Play Down:
To help downplay certain parts.
E.g.
"I've had enough harassment, thank you. Please downplay your disgust in my character, and find a reason to involve me."
Offgame
This is when we are not playing our characters.
Immersion
This is when ingame feels natural. It can be described as a flow, where you don't have to ponder about what to do as your character - it just comes natural to do.
We strive to keep the setting immersive, and ask you to help us do that, by not using your cellphone, or such.
Calibration
Whenever we mention calibration, it is mainly meant as a talk between two or more players, where they talk through and define the level of intensity in expected scenes, or the voiced direction one wants to take their character in.
Calibration is always a good tool to manage the level of drama or harassment you can expect during the larp.
You are always allowed to re-calibrate if needed. If the game is running, please do so away from others, to not break their immersion.
Global calibration
When one player or more, voices their wishes or expectations to the whole larp.
E.g.
"I would love for everyone to play me up as the richest man in Denmark."

Not to be confused with being a reserve. Reserve is a type of sign-up that - if you receive a reserve-spot for the larp, you're guaranteed a spot, just not guaranteed a certain character.
- - - -
The Waiting List consists of all the people who signed up that didn't receive a spot at first. It is the list that we will refer to, if (and when) someone cancels their spot at this larp and needs to drop out.
But, we understand a sign-up proces almost a year before the larp is not possible to plan or commit for everyone.
That's why we are opening a Waiting List Sign Up, so everyone with interest in our two runs, can sign up.
Also, we are running a bit low on the waiting list, since we are running two runs (International & Dansktalende).
There will be a flagging process.
We appreciate all the hype and attention this larp is getting, and we encourage all to keep spreading the word.
Thank you from us all.
Kind summer regards,
Bjørn-Morten and Mads
